Accessibility and support
Courts and tribunals should be accessible to the people who use them.
Communication and participation
If a disability, communication need, language need or other access requirement affects participation, the person should tell the court or LL Courts & Tribunals Service as early as reasonably possible. Appropriate measures can include adjustments to communication, documents, timing or the practical hearing arrangements where permitted.
Fairness remains judicial
Administrative arrangements support participation. Decisions about evidence, procedure and the fair conduct of a hearing remain for the judge or tribunal under the applicable law and procedure.
Support people and representatives
Whether a representative, supporter, appropriate adult, interpreter or other person may participate depends on the nature of the proceedings and the applicable rules or judicial directions.
