Hearings and courtrooms

Judicial hearings are conducted according to the applicable law, procedure and directions in the case.

Before the hearing

Parties should read the hearing notice and any directions, prepare the material required by the court or tribunal and use the proper administrative route for documents and attendance arrangements.

At the hearing

The judge or tribunal controls the proceedings. Parties and representatives must follow lawful directions, address the issues before the court and respect any reporting restriction, privacy measure or protective arrangement in force.

Remote proceedings

A hearing may use an authorised digital venue where the applicable procedure permits it. The use of Discord, Roblox or another operating platform as a practical venue does not itself create jurisdiction, alter the applicable law or change the status of the hearing.

After the hearing

The court or tribunal may give a decision immediately or reserve it. A written judgment, reasons, order or decision is published only where the applicable publication rules permit or require publication.
